- Walking: Features walking on the treadmill. The classes include warm-up/ cool down, power walk, hiking, walk + run, and music-themed classes.
Outdoor: Outdoor classes involve running and walking outdoors and other related workouts. They include walking, endurance, intervals, speed, music, and themed class options.
- Cycling: You take cycling classes on an indoor fitness bike. The class options include low impact, power zone, groove, pro cyclist, climb, live DJ, heart rate zone, climb, intervals, music, and themed classes.
- Stretching: whether you need a pre-run or a post-run stretch, a pre-ride or post-ride stretch, full-body, upper body, or lower body stretch for better muscular relaxation, the stretching category has it all for you.
- Cardio: In the cardio class category, you will get; warm-up, HIIT, music HIIT, family cardio, and dance cardio options. The category basically assists you in shedding calories and losing weight without necessitating the bike or treadmill equipment.
Bike Bootcamp: Bike Bootcamp category refers to a range of workouts involving the combination of bike and floor strength workouts. The range includes; body focus, body weight, and music choices.
- Tread Bootcamp: Like the bike Bootcamps, the tread Bootcamps involve treadmills for cardio, which alternate with strength training. The classes include; warm-up, body focus, body weight, heart rate zone, music, theme, and low impact classes.
- Yoga: Yoga is one of the best stretches and workouts that connect your whole body system, that is, the spirit, mind, and body. Peloton yoga classes include; restorative yoga, flow, focus flow, power, slow, yoga anywhere, pre/ postnatal yoga, yoga basics, theme, and music yoga classes.
- Meditation: meditation is excellent for relaxing and regaining your peace of mind. Peloton meditation aims at facilitating quality sleep and having a productive day ahead, away from all the stress you may have. The class options include; restorative meditation, meditation basics, fitness focus, emotions, breathwork, zen in ten, meditation anywhere, audio only, mindfulness and relaxation, and sleep.
The list is colossal, and the individual classes in each class option are included. For this reason, Peloton can boast of at least 10k classes on the on-demand workout library.

How to Access Peloton On-demand Classes
Besides that, you can access the on-demand classes at your convenience, unlike the pre-scheduled live classes by the Peloton instructors.
So, how do you access the Peloton on-demand classes? First off, you will log in to your Peloton account. Whether you are on the digital app or the Peloton equipment, the on-demand classes are first on the page when you log in successfully. They are under ‘Classes,’ which is first on the broad Peloton categories.
Under classes, you will see all the above class options, from strength to bike Bootcamp. Click on your category of interest.
Once you are in the category, you will get a ‘filter’ option at the top right corner of the vast class options.
If you have specific class options in mind, click on the filter tab. It will reveal length, instructor, class type, difficulty level, subtitles, music, and bookmarks. At the bottom, you will also get the option to sort the classes, say, in alphabetical order.
How to Use Filter in On-demand Classes
So, what do the filters in the on-demand section mean on Peloton? The filters allow you to get the specific classes, filtering out the classes you are not interested in taking. Different filters are depending on the workouts. Let’s look at the significant filters and how to use them;
- Length: This filter prompts you to select the duration you want to take in the workout. It could be anything between 5 minutes and 60 minutes.
- Instructor: Which Peloton instructor are you dying to exercise with.
Is it the Peloton vice president, Robin Arzon, the yoga queen, Aditi Shah, the handsome Cody Rigsby, or the strong Adrian Williams? Meet them and other exciting peloton instructors in this filter. I want to end up trying each of them because I find them all intriguing differently and outstandingly.
- Difficulty level: When you are still new to indoor workouts or are recovering from an injury, you will go for the beginner filter. Otherwise, you have the intermediate and advanced filters to burst your day.
- Class Type: As we have seen above, each class category has different class types. For example, you can filter warm up, HIIT, family cardio, dance or music, HIIT filters, or a couple of combinations in cardio.
- Music: Everyone hits differently when it comes to music. So, which music will bring out the best in a certain workout category for you? Is it classic rock, country, Latin, Latin, Hip hop, R&B, Indie, pop, rock, or any other?
- Subtitles: In subtitles, you will get the option to filter classes to just Spanish, German or English.
Please note that the filters do not limit you to a single option. You can have more than one, depending on your preference. For instance, I love switching between Robin Arzon and Selena Samuela in core strength since their 20-minute class lengths and difficulty level march my schedules.
The Pause Feature
Besides the on-demand classes, Peloton has live classes under the ‘Schedule’ primary category. However, the pause feature is only available in the on-demand classes. Initially, the pause feature was only available for digital app users.
However, Peloton has recently introduced the pause feature for the Peloton bike and bike plus users. Unfortunately, it is not yet available for Peloton treadmill users.
What’s the big deal with the Pause feature in Peloton on-demand classes? Well, the on-demand classes may be recorded, but they still have a ‘Here Now’ Leaderboard. It gives people working out in the class simultaneously and the opportunity to interact and compete.
Therefore, when one is allowed to pause, it means that they would actually cheat on the Leaderboard.
Peloton has gotten around this so that when you pause the on-demand class, you actually gain and lose simultaneously and will not disadvantage the other users. But, unfortunately, while you pause and manage your other business, the Leaderboard takes you to the bottom, and you are unable to compete fairly after that.
Are On-demand Classes Available on the Unlimited Peloton Membership?
Yes, they are. Fortunately, the on-demand classes are available on both the unlimited membership on Peloton equipment and the digital app, usually for users without Peloton equipment.
The stacking feature is only on the on-demand class option on Peloton. It allows the users to pre-select multiple workouts and put them in order to exercise the workouts. Then, they only need to click on the ‘stack’ feature, and the classes will play, starting with the topmost class.
Once you are through with a class, it leaves the stack, and you proceed to the next in the stack. You can skip a class in the stack for the next.
Peloton on-demand classes allow you to skip the introduction. Therefore, if you stacked classes and took them one after the other, you can skip the introduction for the actual workout.
The only challenge is that you can’t skip the warm-up session, even if you just had one with a previous class in the stack.

High Fives and Shoutouts on the On-demand Classes?
High fives motivate and shape a smile on everyone, regardless of whether they are physical or virtual. Peloton has a high five virtual feature, which allows you to be high five and get high fives from users on the ‘Here Now’ Leaderboard in on-demand classes.
However, you cannot get a shoutout from the instructor during an on-demand class. Shoutouts require real-time interaction, which is only in the live classes.

Some On-demand Classes Missing on Peloton?
Yes, you may take an on-demand class on Peloton today, and tomorrow the class simply disappears. So, what really happens in Pleoton that causes the on-demand classes to go missing?
There are several reasons why Peloton pulls down classes from the on-demand sections, and we will dive into a few;
First, if Peloton users criticize a class or show distaste openly, the class is removed from the on-demand section to prevent the conflict, especially if the criticism is valid.
Second, if the users rarely take the class, Peloton pulls it down. If a class is on the on-demand section but barely gets visits, Peloton interprets a users’ lack of interest in the class. And since the platform exists to serve users, what the users don’t find interesting goes down.
Third, music copyrights: Some time ago, Peloton ran into issues with some artists regarding music copyrights. The artists sued Peloton for using their music without their permission. The Peloton had to bring down all the classes where the music was used to prevent further issues. Sometimes the music played in Peloton has to go through music agreements. If, for example, the music agreement period is over and not renewed, Peloton may delete the on-demand classes where the music was used to honor the contract conditions.
Fourth, some classes are old and outdated: If Peloton feels that some classes are kind of obsolete, they may remove the classes during the ‘purge’ for a set of new options. This is more so if the old classes always occupy the first page and block fresh content, yet users are not interested.
Finally, the quality of the class quality: Some classes take long to load and even fail, either before they start or midway. If the quality of the class is compromised and cannot be rectified, the class doesn’t take long in the on-demand section.
Peloton On-demand Classes Vs. Live Classes
Peloton on-demand classes are recorded, while the live classes are streamed live from the Peloton studios. Therefore, the on-demand classes are always available and can be stacked to save time. On the other hand, the on-demand class allows real-time interaction with the instructors.
Therefore, each class option has a strength over the other. Since they are available in both peloton memberships, you can try them both depending on your schedule convenience. You may like one over the other, or, like me, you will use both options when your schedule allows it.
