Peloton All-Access Membership Vs. Digital(App) Membership

Basically, Peloton has two types of memberships; the all-access membership and the digital app membership. Both memberships allow users to stream live classes, in addition to granting access to the large Peloton on-demand library. So, are they really different?

Actually, the two memberships are different from the cost to features. Though they have a lot in common, you will realize that there is a reason that the two have different names. Will you join us on a roadshow about the interesting head-to-head comparison? Right, but first, let’s have a quick look at a brief description of each;

Peloton All-Access Membership

Usually, the all-access membership is available to the Peloton equipment owners. However, it is available to those who own a Peloton bike, a bike plus, a Peloton tread.

The membership costs $39, which opens up unlimited account opportunities for the family and household members.

Peloton Digital App

The Peloton digital app incorporates Peloton fans without the requirement of the Peloton equipment.  One can also get it on their iOS, Android, Roku, and Fire devices. Most importantly, the app is way cheap and a great option when you work out alone with non Peloton equipment.

The digital app membership is a good option if you have another brand bike or tread instead of peloton equipment. Peloton digital app membership allows you to access all peloton content/classes the same as the Peloton all-access membership.

Can you use the peloton digital app with peloton bike and tread?

According to onepeloton, With the Peloton App Membership, you will not have access to classes via your Peloton Bike, Bike+, or Tread, and will not be able to track your performance metrics.

1. Cost

design2

The Peloton all-access and digital app memberships are different in cost. While the all-access membership costs $44, the digital membership costs $12.99. On top of that, the digital app comes with a free 1-month membership, during which you can test your interest in Peloton. The all-access membership does not offer this luxury.

If you are a teacher, a student, or military personnel, the digital app comes with a percentage of your monthly payments. However, the all-access members just benefit when buying a bike or tread from Peloton.

But the all-access membership is not expensive for no reason; at the cost, you can create as many accounts as your household can provide. Therefore, you can make your peloton bike or tread the family workout equipment. Of course, all users must be above 14 years and with a bodyweight maximum of 297 pounds.

2. Workouts

Peloton offers both live and on-demand workouts on both the digital app and all-access subscription. The workouts offer an immersive experience that has seen Peloton become a top indoor fitness platform.

The difference comes in when it comes to special classes such as scenic rides. They are only available on the Peloton all-access membership for the Peloton bike or bike plus owners.

What if you don’t have enough money for the subscription or simply don’t want to pay for a month or so? You can cancel both the all-access membership and the digital app membership. Refer to our guide on how to cancel Peloton membership with ease.

However, you still get the free ‘Just Ride’ feature on the bike and bike plus with the all-access membership. In addition, if you own a tread or a tread plus, the ‘Just Run’ feature remains.

On the contrary, there are no free classes on the Peloton digital app without the subscription payment.

3. The Leaderboard Features

Amazingly, today everyone on Peloton gets access to the Leaderboard. So whether you are on the equipment or the app, the Leaderboard is available for the coveted Peloton competition.

However, the all-access members seem to ride with the all-access members. The digital app members can also easily view the all-access members, but the all-access members will not easily get the app users on the Leaderboard. It is as if the Leaderboard gives priority to all access members when riding or running on the peloton equipment.

All the Peloton members can also send and receive a high-five, whether on the app or the all-access membership. Nevertheless, the Leaderboard favors the all-access members, which means they have better chances of receiving high-fives than the app users.

The greatest difference between the two memberships, though, is the metrics tracking feature. The metrics allow you to utilize the Leaderboard better. Besides, they are from Peloton equipment.

4. Equipment Needed

When using the Peloton digital app, you don’t need the Peloton equipment. Instead, you have the freedom to explore other brands, and if you already have one at home, you will manage to incorporate Peloton workouts into the equipment.

However, the Peloton all-access membership requires Peloton bike or tread equipment. You can also get the account only through the Peloton HD screen, which comes with the Peloton equipment. If you want the workouts on another screen, the Peloton touchscreen provides for a Miracasting feature. Hence, you can stream the workouts from your tablet to the TV  or laptop.

You can use your phone, iPhone, tablet, iPad, and even laptop to stream your workouts with the digital app. They are compatible with Android, iOS, ROKU, and Fire devices.

5. Century Shirts and Referral Codes

Did I mention that the Peloton all-access membership allows you to reap most benefits that Peloton has to offer? Well, they do. Among these benefits are access to referral codes and Peloton century shirts.

Peloton referral codes allow members to refer friends and family using the personal codes. When people use the code to purchase a bike or tread, the Peloton member gets $100 off their next accessories and apparel purchase. The equipment buyer with the code also gets $100 off any accessory they buy with the tread or bike.

Then there are century shirts, which Peloton members get for free after hitting 100 rides on the bike or runs on the tread. The century shirt is a congratulatory gift from Peloton and quite a big deal for Peloton users.

Sadly, these and several other benefits are only available to the Peloton all-access subscription members.

Peloton All-Access or Digital App Membership?

Well, it all boils down to individual decisions. If you are looking for a family subscription with all that Peloton has in store, the Peloton all-access membership is the obvious choice. Also, it is easier to achieve your goals faster on the all-access membership, given the metrics tracking feature that keeps you in check.

However, if you want a cheaper option and already have your other brand equipment, the digital app has many benefits you will reap. After all, you will still have access to the thousands of on-demand workout libraries, in addition to the live classes. While you may not manage multiple accounts, you can stream the workouts on the TV as a family and work out together. You will only miss the personalized workouts bit.
