Step by Step Procedure

Step 1: Be Off the Bike!

First of all, you have to be off the bike. This will be safe and more efficient.

Step 2: Remove the Straps

When using the toe cages and straps, you have to buckle up the straps. Now, you have to loosen them. Then, pull the straps off the cages, slowly from one loop to the other.

This step, however, comes in handy if the toe clips come with straps. However, there are toe cages that are self-sufficient. They don’t need straps to be effective. In that case, you will simply skip this step, then meet us in step 3.

Step 3: Locate the Toe Cage Bolts

Want to locate the bolts that fix the toe cages to the pedals? Turn the pedal over, so that you are facing the bottom of the pedal.

You will see the tiny bolts where the toe clips are fixed.

Step 4: Unbolt the Bolts

Using the Allen wrench, try unbolting the bolts. If you have used the toe cages for far too long, the bolts might be tighter than you expect. Use the pedal oil to soften the grip on the pedal.

Turn the bolts counterclockwise to loosen them. When they loosen up completely and are coming off, use your hands to fasten the process.

Step 5: Take Off the Toe Cages from the Bike Pedals

Now you can pull the toe cages off the bike pedals. If the toe cages came with the pedal and you now want your peloton pedals, you can remove the pedals.

Use an Allen wrench to loosen the pedals from the crank arm of the bike, one at a go. For the right-side pedal, you have to turn it clockwise to loosen, while for the left pedal, you have to turn it counterclockwise to loosen it.
