Similarities between MYX and Peloton Bikes

Since both are spinning bikes, they definitely have a common ground: they are at-home workout bikes. But there’s more than this;

1. Both Bikes Have Two Versions Each

Peloton’s original bike remains the Peloton bike, which costs cheaper than the all-new bike plus. So instead, the bike plus is an advancement of the Peloton bike, with covetable features that bike owners wished would be on the original bike.

In the same way, MYX started with the affordable MYX bike. However, they now have a new alternative in the market, which is slightly higher than the original MYX bike. The new bike is the MYX II bike, and the features are just as unique as you could have imagined of a peloton competition.

2. Both Bikes Use Clip-In Pedals

Clip-in pedals are the best for spinning, and most indoor bikes adapting to these pedals. They offer better power transfer and are best for top-notch performance.

Both Peloton and MYX use clipless pedals, though different. While MYX uses the SPD cleat system, Peloton uses the Look Delta cleat system pedals.

3. Both bikes Have Live and On-Demand Classes

The two bikes vary from other home spinning bikes in that their screens come with built-in classes. You don’t have to outsource bike workout classes as long as you have either Peloton or MYX bike.

They have instructors guiding your workouts and making the at-home workouts more productive.

Both bikes require that you have a subscription to access these classes. The best part is that these subscriptions allow you to have a gym-guided workout while paying less for a whole month of unlimited classes.

Differences between MYX and Peloton Bikes

Now let’s dive into the uniqueness of both bikes, which make MYX different from Peloton and vice versa;

1. Cost

Peloton rose to fame in its high-end pricing, which has won people’s hearts with a place for ostentatious and classy products. Its lowest bike goes for $1495, with its bike plus pricing at $2495. Other than the bike, the monthly subscription is also quite expensive compared to MYX. With the bike, you will need a monthly membership of $39 to reap the full benefits of a Peloton.

However, unlike the MYX, you can opt for a lower subscription. For example, you can choose the Peloton Digital membership, which costs $12.99 per month. However, it is free for the first month, which means that you have time to adjust to the high cost of the Peloton bike.

On the contrary, MYX is way too cheap for its services. For example, its original bike goes for $1299, while the new MYX II costs $1399. Then there is the monthly subscription to access both live and on-demand classes, which is only $29 per month.

2. Classes

The two bikes focus on different class targets. In addition, peloton classes have a competition feature, the Leaderboard, where riders in the same class compete. It motivates a user to do better and beat their competition on the Leaderboard.

Then there are the enthusiastic professional coaches, who always encourage and push you to hit milestones. They make it look so easy and achievable, set high milestones for resistance and cadence that you never thought you could achieve. But by the end of the class, trust me, you will have met those expectations.

However, MYX classes are all about cardio goals. It encourages you to let your heartbeat the fastest possible, and this way, you are a winner. Besides, in MYX, you only compete with yourself, as there is no Leaderboard to showcase your fellow riders.

Moreover, MYX instructors are soft on you, and they only encourage you to do what you feel you can. So the enthusiasm to do more is not much.

Hence, if you can manage workout discipline without being pushed, MYX will do. However, no other indoor spinning bike will beat a Peloton if you need the motivation to meet your set workout goals.

Though both bikes offer live and on-demand classes, Peloton live classes prove more effective than MYX live classes for most people. This is probably due to the Leaderboard or the instructors’ effect, but we are yet to prove it.

When it comes to the number of classes available, Peloton has more than MYX. It already displays thousands of on-demand classes, which increase by the day. However, being reasonably new, MYX only has hundreds of on-demand full-body workout classes for you to stream.

Due to the availability of off-bike classes, Peloton offers other accessories that come with bike plus at an added cost. Nevertheless, the added cost on the bike is way cheaper than having to purchase the accessories on their own, not to mention the cost and time it takes.

3. User Height and Weight

Sadly, spinning bikes have a ceiling height and a minimum height. They also have a maximum weight that they can handle.

The Peloton bike handles a maximum user weight of 305lbs. The user must also range within 4’11 inches and 6’5 inches height to fit on the bike.

On the other hand, MYX has a wider range in weight and height limitations. It can take in people with a height of up to 6’8 inches and a weight of up to 305lbs.

Therefore, if you are feeling overweight or over 6’5″, MYX is definitely the choice.

4. Screen

Both bikes come with reasonably large touch screens for the workouts, at a size of 21.5 inches. However, Peloton has an advantage, with the bike plus featuring a relatively larger screen of 32 inches.

There is a difference in the screens; the original Peloton bike has a screen that cannot rotate if fixed. While the bike plus take care of this challenge with a

The screen that rotates 360 degrees; comes at a higher cost.

On the other hand, the MYX bikes have screens that rotate 360 degrees.

Since both bikes come with workouts on and off the bike, a rotating screen is essential. In addition, it allows for ease in performing ground and other off-bike workouts.

The Peloton bike screen allows you to adjust between the music and the instructor’s voice. However, you have to keep up with the instructor’s playlist, even when you don’t like it.

On the contrary, the MYX bike screen allows you to adjust the music and instructor’s voice for a balance and allow you to choose music. In addition, you can skip the playlist for up to five songs so that you ride with your best choice.

5. Pedals

Both bikes indeed use clipless pedals, which allow you to use cycling shoes with cleats. However, the two sets of pedals still differ.

The Peloton pedals are Look Delta, allowing for three-hole cleat clipping in. You, however, have two options, and you can either use the Look Delta cleats or SPD-SL cleats on your Peloton shoes.

Nevertheless, MYX uses SPD pedals, hence calling for use with the two-hole SPD cleats. And this is not all; the MYX bike pedals are dual, which means that they are both clipless and clipped.

Therefore, when you are not using the SPD clip-in shoes, you can wear casual non-cycling shoes on the bike. When looking for optimal power transfer, clip-in shoes are best. On the other hand, for casual rides and less intense rides, you have the option of casual shoes.

6. Bike Dimensions

The peloton bikes are lighter than the MYX bikes, making them easier to move around. While you use transport wheels to move the bike on level ground, a lighter bike goes a long way into enhancing the task. The Peloton bike weighs 125lbs, while MYX weighs 134lbs. The flywheels bear only 35lbs of weight and 41lbs consecutively.

Nevertheless, this weight difference is not much, and the best part is that it serves sufficiently to stabilize the bikes.

When it comes to dimensions, the MYX bike is sleeker, hence better for squeezed spaces. Its footprint is 3’4 length by 1’7 inches width. On the contrary, Peloton has a larger footprint of 4 feet in length by 2 feet in width.

7. Resistance

Both bikes come with resistance, only that the type and mode of resistance differ. Peloton bikes use magnetic flywheel resistance systems, and the riders can adjust resistance depending on the specific rides they are taking.

However, MYX bikes use a mechanical friction resistance system. Also, your resistance levels will depend on your cardio metrics. Therefore, it doesn’t really push you more than you would want.

So, MYX Fitness Bike Or Peloton?

It is pretty confusing how you choose one over the other and are actually at a loss because both bikes make a great impression. Both bikes are quality structures, hence durable. They also come with a competitive warranty and return alluring policies.

However, I will help you; the MYX bike is a fantastic option.

On the contrary, if good community support and motivation make your workouts and days better, the Peloton bike is the best option.
